Under 12 Hurlers Play Ballinascreen

On Saturday morning (12th May 2007) the Under 12 hurlers travelled to Ballinascreen to play them in two nine a side games.

In the first game Swatragh began slowly and conceded an early goal, but after the shaky start Swatragh settled and began to pick off some great scores with the forward line of Paul McAtamney, Kieran Lagan and Fintan McGurk all shooting some excellent goals.  Despite a Ballinascreen fightback at the start of the second half Swatragh took control in the last five minutes and finished with some long range points from midfield to run out easy winners on a scoreline of 11-08 to 03-08 .

In the second game it was a much tighter affair with Ballinascreen taking an early lead through some great play by their midfield.  ‘Screen dominated the first half and were four goals to the good at half time.  However after the turnaround Swatragh began their comeback and with Mark Cassidy excelling at midfield and the forwards beginning to get on top, Joseph Grant nipped in for two quick goals and it was game on.  Ballinascreen went on the attack again to try to gain the upper hand, but with John Walsh holding firm in the back line clearing plenty of ball Swatragh got another goal to win the game by a margin of 2 points.  Credit must go to both teams for an excellent game of hurling.
