Swatragh 1-13 Lavey 3-13
Despite recording their second consecutive loss the Davitts put in a much improved performance against the league leaders. This was always going to be a tough match for the Davitts as holidays and concerts meant a depleted took the field
With Sean McNicholl moving into an outfield position, Owen McGuckin was called in between the sticks, and he gave an excellent performance.
A point separated the sides at half time, 0-06 to 0-07, but the concession of 3 second half goals ruined the Davitts chances of victory. Swatragh will definitely be unhappy with the marking for two of the scores, although in fairness the other was well worked.
Throughout the game Swatragh displayed a level of tenacity and commitment glaringly lacking in their previous outing. The forwards were creating space for themselves and Sean McNicholl enjoyed a productive outfield debut with two points from play. Michael McKenna also had a excellent game on the ’40.
The defence played fairly well for the main part and Lavey were thankful for the ever reliable Olly Collins from placed balls.
The Davitts can take a lot of positives out of this game and will hope to claim victories in their remaining league games.
