Swatragh 1-12 Kevin Lynch's 1-11

With both sides having been in good form in the league this was always going to be a close encounter. Both teams were missing key players but still served up a keenly contested game. Swatragh started the game well opening the scoring with a point from Michael McKenna, but the Dungiven men answered back quickly with a goal. Space was at a premium throughout the remainder of the half and a a result most of the scores came from frees. There was little pattern to the play but by half time Kevin Lynch's had gained a four point advantage.

The North Derry began the second period on top and managed to extend their lead. However the Davitts never felt they were out of contention and some improved play saw they narrow the gap. Malachy Scullen re-deployed at full forward, was causing havoc, and it was no surprise when he fired to the net to level the sides.

The Davitts were now well in the ascendancy and with time running out they managed to edge themselves a point in front. However they still had to survive a couple of scares before the final whistle sounded. Once again Swatragh will be happy with the result if not necessarily the performance. It was a scrappy game by both sides with few periods of open play. Best for Swatragh was Seamus McFerran and the McNicholl brother in defence, Ruairi Convery finished strongly in the middle while Malachy Scullen bolstered the attack in the last quarter.
