Banagher 1-05 Swatragh 1-09
Swatragh travelled to Banagher on Friday night and deservedly came away with their second win of the season. In tough conditions this was never going to be a high scoring game, but Swatragh produced a sixty minute performance and should probably have won by more.
The Davitts won the toss and elected to play against whatever breeze was on offer. Despite facing the elements, a solid and disciplined defensive performance saw the Davitts lead by 0-04 to 0-03 at half time.
In previous games this season Swatragh have failed to follow up a good first half effort with a second half performance. This was not to be the case on this occasion. Swatragh were in complete control throughout the second half. At one stage the Davitts held a 7 point lead, and despite Banagher getting a goal back, Swatragh responded with another point to secure a relatively comfortable victory.
This was a very good team performance from Swatragh, but there were notable performances from Patrick O’Kane & Martin Quinn in defence, Declan McGuckin at midfield and Eugene McGuckin up front.
This result puts the Davitts back in with a chance of a top two spot and an automatic semi final place.
