Swatragh 2-11 Banagher 3-13

Despite starting without Ruairi Convery & Michael Kirkpatrick the Davitts started this game where they left off against Slaughtneil. A blistering start saw them register 2-03 before Banagher managed to trouble the scorers. The main man was once again Michael Conway as he fired in two quick fire goals for the second game in a row.

However with the wind at their back Banagher fought their way back into the game and by half time had reduced their arrears to two points, the score 2-06 to 1-07.

The Davitts began the second half in fine fashion taking some great scores from play. With Connor Quinn deputising well on free taking duties the game entered the final quarter with Swatragh holding a six point advantage. Indeed had the crossbar not come to Banagher’s rescue the lead could have been even greater.

However the Davitts were unprepared for the Banagher onslaught that closed out the game. In the closing portion Banagher took complete control at midfield, starving the Swatragh forwards of possession and fired 2-05 without reply to clinch victory.

This was a very open and entertaining game of hurling, with Swatragh playing the better stuff for 40 minutes of the game. However they will have to learn to close games out and shut teams down much more effectively.
