Banagher 3-12 Swatragh 3-09
Soft Goals Halt Swatragh Progress
Swatragh travelled to Banagher in search of their opening points of the season after an opening day defeat to Ballinderry. They got off to the worst possible start conceding a goal within thirty seconds of the throw in. However, they refused to let this early blow halt their progress and by half time had enjoyed the better of the exchanges and narrowed the gap to the minimum. With Ruairi Convery operating at full forward Swatragh were looking threatening and with good support from Seanie McGuckin the away side were well in the hunt.
Swatragh began the second half in opposite fashion to the first, this time bagging an early goal for themselves. Unfortunately as in their previous game they failed to capitalise on their dominance and allowed Banagher back into the game. Some poor decisions in the defence allowed Banagher in for two further scrappy goals and despite carving two further three pointers themselves, the Davitts were jus out of touch at the final whistle.
For the second game in a row Swatragh conceded three goals. They will have to substantially tighten up at the back to avoid further defeats.
