Goal On The Stroke Of Half Time Leaves Davitts Too Much To Do

Swatragh 0-11 Magherafelt 1-10

Swatragh hosted Magherafelt in their fourth league match hoping to gain their first points of the season. In trick conditions Swatragh played into the elements in the first half. Despite this they made a good start getting a couple of early points. However as the half wore on the Rossas began to make better use of the conditions in their favour.

As half time approached Magherafelt held a two point advantage, but not for the first time this season, Swatragh undid their hard work by conceding a soft goal on the stroke of half time. This was a cruel luck on the Davitts who had battled hard against the elements in the opening period, and it was rough justice to be five points adrift at the break. At the half Swatragh 0-04 Magherafelt 1-06.

On the restart Magherafelt got the opening two scores to stretch their advantage to seven, but for the remainder of the game Swatragh outscored their opponents by seven points to two. Unfortunately this was not enough as the Rossas held out for an important victory. Swatragh will look back with regret on two points lost, as another soft goal has cost them victory.
Final Score: Swatragh 0-11 Magherafelt 1-10

There were still many positive aspects for the Davitts to take out of the game, as they controlled game for long periods. However, they will need to maintain their level of performance over sixty minutes in order to start climbing the league, starting at Ballinascreen on Wednesday night.
