Swatragh 3-08 Kilrea 0-10
The Davitts got their season back on track with a good win over fancied Kilrea. The Swatragh men showed great character and determination to bounce back from their midweek defeat. As is so often the case, goals proved decisive, with the Davitts getting three and managing to keep a clean sheet.
Swatragh were full value for their victory, with the defence holding firm, and the midfield pairing of Michael Friel & Ruairi Convery ensuring a constant supply of possession. Swatragh made the better start and a Eugene O'Kane goal gave them a five point lead midway through the first half. However, Kilrea fought back well and closed the gap to a single point at half time.
At the beginning of the second period Kilrea tied the scores, but after edging back ahead, a second Davitt goal through Sean McNicholl gave Swatragh breathing room again. The third Swatragh goal came through McNicholl again after a mix-up in the Kilrea defence, and the Davitts saw out the game comfortably.
This was much better performance from Swatragh and will give them confidence going into the Championship next weekend.
