Ballymaguigan 0-10 Swatragh 2-09
The Davitts earned their second league victory of the season with a deserved victory. However for long periods of the first half a win looked unlikely as Swatragh struggled to find any cohesion in their play.
The supply of ball into the full forward line was nowhere near good enough and Swatragh were extremely fortunate to lead at half time by 2-02 to 0-06. The Davitt goals were well worked and deserved, but on the balance of play this score line was harsh on the ‘Treas.
The second half was for the main part a different story. Swatragh took complete control of the midfield sector and quickly stretched their lead to 4 points. This was soon to become six as Ballymaguigan struggled to get out of their own half. Swatragh struck a number of fine scores from play through Michael Conway, Michael Kirkpatrick & Malachy Scullen.
A couple of quick scores from Ballymaguigan threatened a comeback, and it looked like the Davitts might panic, but they managed to find an insurance point to calm the nerves. A fine save from Michael O’Kane late on kept the clean sheet intact and seal a much needed win for the Davitts.
In the second half there were a number of fine performances from the Davitts, with Michael Friel towering at midfield and Mickey Kirk in scoring form up front.
The Davitts will hope to see more of their second half form in their forthcoming fixtures.
