Swatragh 0-06 Bellaghy 0-12

First Half Hard Work Goes Unrewarded

Swatragh recently hosted Bellaghy in the latest round of the senior football league. The Davitts were keen to exact some revenge on the men in blue considering their Championship semi-final defeat last season.

In the first half of this game Swatragh were playing into a strong breeze and at by the interval they had restricted Bellaghy to just six points and a four point advantage.

In the second half the Davitts failed to take advantage of the position they had put themselves in, with some poor passing and wasteful finishing. It was a poor second half effort give the endeavour and work rate of the opening period.

As Swatragh became more wasteful Bellaghy grew in stature and hit the Davitts on the break, feeding ball into their lively inside forward line. This allowed them to equal their first half points tally and claim a deserved victory that had looked in the balance at half time.

It was a disappointing second half effort especially considering how hard the Davitts had worked to put themselves in position at half time. They will need to work on their delivery to the forwards and learn to make better use of hard earned possession.
