Malachy Scullen gave Davitt’s the lead from a free in the second minute but points from Paul Deighan, Charlie Kielt and James Kielt, all from frees, put Kilrea 0-03 to 0-01 ahead after nine minutes.

By the 18th minute the Davitt’s had taken a 0-04 to 0-03 lead with a Malachy Scullen pointed free, and scores from Sean McNicholl and Michael Friel who had a storming game in the middle of the park.

Paul Deighan levelled the score in the 28th minute but Michael Kirkpatrick scored a fine point to take Swatragh to the break with a slender 0-05 to 0-04 advantage.

Kilrea hit back with points from Paul Deighan, James Kielt from a free and Lee Kennedy to go 0-07 to 0-05 ahead ten minutes into the second half.

Thereafter the Davitt’s took control, with Michael Conway, Ryan Dillon and Martin Quinn dominant in defence. Kirkpatrick and Rodgers exchanged points, but points in the last ten from Michael McKenna and Gerard Turner who scored points either side of a Kirkpatrick pointed free took the Davitt’s to a deserved victory.
