Swatragh 1-12 Castledawson 4-08

Goals Cost Davitts Dear In Entertaining Encounter

On Saturday past Swatragh hosted Castledawson reserves going in search of their second victory of the season. However as the seniors found in previous games you cannot afford to concede soft goals and expect to win football matches.

Both sides were evenly matched and Swatragh made the better early start with points form John McKeefry and Anton O’Kane. However Castledawson edged into the game and a soft goal put them in front.

The game continued on an even keel and it was just the away side’s ability to find the net that separated the teams. There were numerous good performances on the Swatragh side. Quinn and O’Doherty performed well in defence and John McKeefry and Eugene O’Kane hit some fine scores in attack. O’Kane finished his goal with a rasper that beat the keeper at his near post.

Johnny was in fine scoring form.

These scores were not enough in the end as Castledawson’s ability to hit the killer goals earned them victory in an open and entertaining game.
