Davitts Crash Out

The seniors got their competitive season underway, hosting Moneymore in the first round of the Larkin Cup. A slightly under strength Davitts side took the field, depleted due to county and Sigerson cup commitments. Still the home side would still have been expected to progress. The Davitts got off to a sluggish start and inside the first ten minutes found themselves three points down. However for the remainder of the half they managed to shrug off the lethargy and went in at the interval one point to the good leading by 0-05 to 0-04.

The Swatragh side continued to dominate throughout the second half and looked like coming out on top. However a scrappy goal eventually fisted to the net by the Moneymore midfielder in the 40th minute gave the visitors a lead that they never relinquished.  Despite being camped in the opposition half for the remainder of the game the Davitts struggled on a heavy pitch to create the necessary openings to get back on terms.

It was tough luck on Swatragh, especially the defence who played well as a unit throughout, with Micky McKenna and "wee" Marty Quinn catching the eye particularly.
